Fertilizer grade CAN contain roughly 8% calcium and 21-27% nitrogen. it is preferred for use on acid soils, as it acidifies soil less than many common nitrogen fertilizers. This product can also be used in place of ammonium nitrate where ammonium nitrate is banned or restricted.
Why use CAN fertilizer?
- It is Universal – can be applied in all crops, regardless of the application period (before sowing to top dressing).
- It contains Calcium and Magnesium which improves the efficiency of absorbing nitrogen in plant’s roots hence reducing nitrogen losses.
- It is considered as near-neutral in its effect to soil pH and therefore can be used on soils with low pH without lowering further.
- For use on perennial fruit crops (where soil incorporation of lime is difficult).
- Volatilization of Nitrogen is very negligible in CAN.
Default application rates: 50-75 kg/acre depending on crop requirements (soil testing is however recommended).
